I found Mary Albury who looks to be Lucy's younger sister. I have ordered the death ceritificate for George and I think I will go for the Frisk marriage cert as well. Good hunting and thank you very much

Hi,

Thanks for the info, quick work. I think George aged 26 is the man and the family of samuel and Charlotte look like the right family as samuel was the name of their first boy. Lucy could be Lucy Albury whose mother was Hannah (the name of their fist girl). Lucy is one of two lucys born in West dean in 1821.

Now to find their marriage.

Hi,

I am trying to track down the marriage between George Feist and Lucy ??? between 1840 and 1850. BMD records return nothing and all I know is that Lucy(from West Dean) and George had 3 children betweenn 1847 and 1850 (Hannah, Samuel and Lucy). By 1851 (census) George had died and Lucy was living as a pauper in Horsham. The children were registered in Brighton however and they could have married there.

I cannot find George's death record either so if anyone can help on either the marriage or death I would be very grateful.

Kent Completed Lookup Requests / Re: Whitmore - 1891 in Barming/Maidstone

Hi,

I have done a bit of research for you. First of all sarah Alice is a different Whitmore born in Farnham to Thomas Whitmore and Eliza Vaas. Your Sarah was born in 1860 or late 1859 (christened in Feb 1860). I cannot find a marriage for Sarah and George Curd but from 1881 census to 1901 we have a Sarah Married to George. Their daughter, one of many married Alfred John Potter of Adelaide Road Croydon in 1901 when she was 17. He was 21 and they were both Flower Hawkers. Alfred was born in Brighton and it is likely they met there as in 1891 susan was living at Cumberland Place Brighton.

As for Mary Roffey, I don't know anything apart from being born in 1829 and coming from Lingfield. John Whitmore I can trace back through Thomas and (S)Frusanna Browne, then John and Anne Miller, then Thomas and Mary Peters married in 1771 and possibly back to Thomas and Ann from Horley in the early 1700s.

Hi,

Unfortunately your sarah is not the one. My GG Grandmother was born in 1821 and is descended from another branch of the Whitmores. Thomas and Susanna (Frusanna) are descended from Whitmores in Horley and I still have not found a convincing link between your line of Whitmores and mine although I'm sure there is one back in the 1700s.

Thank you for replying and if you want any information on your branch of the family I have quite a large list of Whitmores in and around Horley, Redhill and Reigate at my disposal.

Hi,

Thanks for the update. I have William and Fanny and also your Gran Ivy on my spreadsheet of Redhill/Reigate/Horley Whitmores but have not been able to relate them to my family tree yet. Most of the Whitmore's in Surrey originated from Horley and gradually spread out to Redhill/Reigate and a few to London. I also have a Kathleen Alice Whitmore born in 1905 is this your great aunt.

I have several hundred Whitmore's and happy to help piece together some more of your family history on the Whitmore side. It is quite possible that we are related in a distant way as for many years they kept quite local and all seem to be labourers, bricklayers or plasterers. I'm intersted in the policeman as I have also seen some photo's of Whitmore's in the police before.

Kind Regards
Ned

Harry Kelly was probably born in Ireland in the mid - late 1800s. He died somewhere between 1910 and 1930.
