After reading your post I had a brief look and found the following:

James Williams marriage to Elizabeth Phillips @ Hereford, Herefordshire in 1891

Qtr: Jan - Feb - Mar
Registration District: Hereford
County: Herefordshire

Their first son was born in 1891.

Hope this helps!

No I hadn't considered that one, thanks.  I have spent many hours correcting the transcripts on Ancestry because it said Richards and should be Pritchard, so that is defo something to think about, will investigate further.

Your very helpful, thank you!!!

I have transcribed a lot of possibles for Sarah and I also wondered if she was married before. I do know that her maiden name was Pritchard as she was living with her sister on the 1841 census, but who she married  before Thomas is something that I am looking into at the moment,  if she married at all that is, but I am considering the possibility that she may have married and maybe he died which would be the reason why I can't find an Edward Pritchard or Bevan birth record (her son), as it would have probably been registered under the father's name (her previous husband if there is one), so any info is appreciated and any ideas that you have.

Also I have read that couples married in the women's parish which could have been Merthy Cynog in Breconshire, which isn't that far away and is where Sarah comes from. So I have a list of all the marriages dating from about 1837 to 1840,  and am looking into it.

In the meantime thank you for your time and efforts, very much appreciated.

Monmouthshire Lookup Requests / Re: Penmark

Hi there,

No I haven't found his birth yet, seems very odd, I have obtained the cert you mentioned and it transpires the mothers name is Blanch Pritchard and father John Pritchard and need it to be Sarah Pritchard/Prichard, have also obtained other certs in the area at that time, as I went through the census for 1841 and all the babies born in the street were registered at Abergavenny and it states he was born in the county.  I often wonder if he was registered in another name (the fathers name) as Pritchard was Sarah's maiden name, gets very confusing, but am still searching and searching for different clues to try and find him.

I'm not sure if you know the story but Sarah Prichard lived with her sister Mary Jones in 1841 in Penmark, Sirhowy Iron Works, just herself and a baby, when I checked the next census 1851, there is no trace of her as a Prichard or Edward, both are renamed as Bevan's, So Edward probably didn't belong to Thomas Bevan because if he did she would have put Edward Bevan on the census rather than Prichard, as Thomas was only living further on down the street in 1841.

Anyway, I am still looking but welcome any comments....thanks!

Thanks for the info, have already got it though, and do think that just maybe your idea may be worth looking into again, only reason I put it on the back burner was I have all the census records and there is not a mention anywhere of her being an Ann or part of her name if you understand what I mean, however I will take another look into this and maybe it might be worth ordering the cert to know for sure.

Anyway, thanks again, very much appreciated, any bits of info are welcome.

Monmouthshire Lookup Requests / Re: Mary Bevan 1858 Birth or Baptist Record
« on: Saturday 18 February 12 11:52 GMT (UK)  »
Managed to obtain the birth cert for the Mary Bevan (suggested above)...Vol 11a. Page 60 and it transpires that the mothers name is:
Sarah Whitington and father William Bevan, so unfortunately not that one. I have other possibilities but this is starting to get costly! I was wondering if anyone was visiting the records office for Abergavenny Records and could look up one other possible birth for Mary Bevan:
Mary Ann Bevan...Vol. 11a. Page No. not avail.
Parents: Thomas Bevan & Sarah ? (Could be Pritchard) the other possibles I have are not Abergavenny and at that time the birth would have been registered at Abergavenny.

Many thanks
