I know my McCaffrey line has ties to Monaghan through GG Grand Aunt Sarah b. 1830 . Aughnamullen is one of  parishes that both McCaffrey and McNally ( mom's maiden)can be found around the time of her birth. Sarah and confirmed younger sisters Anna and Elizabeth immigrated to NYC around 1849. I believe there are more siblings with the names of Mary, Philip, Thomas and Hugh. Did any of your McCaffrey family immigrate ? Got any other surnames accociated

Antrim / Re: McNeilly or Meneilly - now that is a question?

I have the name McNally in my family and was told that McNeilly, McAnally, McNealy, even McNeil could be acceptable variations of the name. I know that might just make it a tough search but maybe it will open a new a new avenue.

Clare / Re: Michael O'Connor

Hello Hyjean, Well being from Co.Clare and about the right age to be my GGG Grandmother Anne's siblings, that and we're both looking for a Bridget. What do you know about Bridget's Husband, Patrick Hoare (think I spelt that wrong). Are there any indications he has roots in Ireland, not nessacarily Co.Clare. I feel very strongly Anne and her Husband stayed in Co. Clare. Though, I want to say I made a note that I got the vibe a Bridget O'Connor immigrated to Australia or New Zealand, but I got side tracked. Give me a day or two to go through my O'Connor - Fitzpatrick research. If you would like my personal email leave me a private message. By the way have you checked out the Clarelibrary.ie they have a nice stash of donated genealogy records.

Do you know of any other siblings or where your O'Connor family is from? My GGG Grandmother is an Anne O'Connor Fitzpatrick. A Bridget O'Connor was a sponsor for one of her daughters in 1849 as well as the name of her eldest daughter. My family is from the Clarecastle parish, townlands Ballyea. There is a tie to a Patrick Kennedy as he is a sponsor to 2 of the girls.

You're  welcome. Actually, the name Gilhooley/Gilhooly has its roots in Leitrim with strong presence in Roscommon and Slingo. Though, there are smaller groups as well as I found in Cork, I had heard of the one in Limerick and I came across some information on one in Tipperary another county you may want to check out. I know that connorsgenealogy.com (maybe net or org) the guy who runs it has Gihooley family there. I know this site is by ifhf and you can try rootsireland.ie and run a search to find out how many records they have for Gilhooly/Gilhooley, I think you can still dwindle it down to county without having to buy credits ( new format is ridiculous!). Do have Bridget's birth record or the marriage certificate? If you find it and want a retrival I recommend going through recordsreland.ie, they're have always been very helpful, they're accredited genealogists in Ireland and one of the cheaper sites for records retrival.

Good luck, Danielle

Do you know if your Patrick immigrated and if so, where? I think my GGG Grandmother is a Hooley not Gilhooly and her son Patrick's (1833)witness for his 1856 Naturalization is a Patrick Mahony.

I am researching Gilhooly/Gilhooley with a tie to W.Cork.There is a small group in the Bantry area in the mid 1800's. I mention this incase you didn't already know some parishes fall into both counties. Also, the name O'Brien is in the area as well. Have you checked out irishgenealogy.ie? They have records for West and South Cork.
