Good evening,

I'm not sure the London Necropolis Company took provincial burials and cremations. Brookwood  was built to take the overflow from London because the London cemataries were becoming full. Trains went from their own station near Waterloo to Brookwood which had two stations within the cematary. Brookwood was in fact the first crematorium in Britain.

Good evening,

Just thought everyone would like to see different views of the house. One from above and one over the wall where the trees have been thinned out. As you can see, the large plain building at right rear is now a seperate house. The tower would have been at the right hand end of the single storey portion. Probably just behind the main house as you look from the road.

Good evening,

Neither cemetary in East Grinstead has a crematoria. In 1949 there were few about, the nearest would have been Mortlake or Golders Green to the north or Brighton to the south. Places like Tunbridge Wells, Eastbourne and Crawley didn't get them until the 50s/60s.

God morning,
Thanks again John. Next time you drive past No. 12 you’ll know what lurks behind the trees 😉
I’m not sure it would have been recognisable without the tower, so don’t be too hard on yourself  ;D
Of course, we have no idea when the house was altered. The first thing I noticed was the large building at the right rear. That has been replaced by a house on the same footprint. Also the tennis court has gone, the ground now slopes down from the terrace in front of the house. I tried researching it last night but couldn't find a lot about it. A search for a house of that name kept taking me to one in Hampshire. A search for Churt House, which it was known as at one time, kept taking me to Churt which is near Guildford. I am on a mission now to research this and also have another look for missing WAIs. But not today, off on a coach trip to Wisley Gardens.

Good evening,

Well, i'm really miffed over this find Trish. I only live about 45 minutes away and have driven past it numerous times. Unknowingly of course, the road is just behind the trees on the left of the lawn. It has a 6ft stone wall alongside the road which is that much lower than the garden. So with all the trees you can't actually see it from the road. Not even as you pass the drive which goes in behind the house as we look at it. Well done again Trish.

Good evening,

Well done Trish, brilliant find. Now having found it and having a location i've been on google maps. I can now confirm my original belief that I delivered xmas hampers there. When you go in the larger front door to the right you enter a biggish hallway with a stone flagged floor and a huge oak staircase in the back right corner. That's as far as I went so can't tell you about the rest of the house. Still can't believe 3 of them have been found in one weekend, after all this time.

Technical Help / Re: Printer Ink - HP Instant Ink

Good morning,
[1quote author=SmallTownGirl link=topic=861139.msg7644709#msg7644709 date=1743589366]
I've been meaning to cancel my subscription for a year or two now, but the latest price increase has firmed my resolve.

Am I right in thinking that when I do cancel the ink cartridges currently installed (and supplied under the subscription) will stop working, so I need to buy more myself and have them ready for the day the cancellation kicks in, please?

Many thanks
STG

Yes, that is true. If I remember correctly it doe's tell you in the small print when you first sign up. You would need to monitor your ink levels and cancel when they are very low and before they send a new supply.

Good afternoon,

I too remember MaxD, always a fount of military knowledge. Another I recall was Meezer, havn't seen her on here for a long time. Then there was the lady who ran a small plant nursery I believe.
Then of course who could forget ScouseBoy, excommunicated I understand.

Good evening,

I don't know why the 2nd link doesn't work. A lot of it was just repeating the 1st link but it also had a list of regiments. I will have another search.
