Dear CarolW and Runningbear,

Have just proved the marriage between Walter Muir and Margaret Campbell Brown.
Matthew and Sarah Blackie are the parents.

Many thanks to both of you for pointing me in the right direction. I have passed a

Ireland / Re: McCann / Orchin
« on: Tuesday 31 May 11 00:23 BST (UK)  »
Thank you. Yes I have that info. My family are descended from that son. On one birth record in 1845 they were at Shanes's Castle, Antrim. Henry always worked as a Coachman. His son George was apparently born in 1841 in Co. Down. So there may be a marriage in 1840 or earlier tucked away in some church records. I had hoped that by putting the request out on the Belfast Forum that I'd get lucky. Rumour has it that Henry came from England. His death records in 1881 give his age as 62. (b.1819). There was a Henry in London b.1811 but I can find nothing after that date. I'm also hoping someone is researching McCann and I might get a clue there.

Thanks again.

Regards,
Miracle

Ireland / McCann / Orchin

Does anyone have any info. re. a marriage between Sarah Jane McCann and Henry Orchin? Most of their children were married in Belfast. They are both buried in the City cemetery. Henry may have been born about 1819.

I'm hoping one of their ancestors in Northern Ireland may have the answer.  :)

Antrim / Re: Shankill Graveyard - records "all burned"???
« on: Saturday 02 October 10 12:40 BST (UK)  »
Ken: There is no connection between the 2 Shankills other than the name. Shankill is the name of a Parish.
Also found in Dublin and Co. Kilkenny.
There are no official records of Belfast Shankill cemetery.
If I learn anything of interest I'll forward it to you.
