HI everyone.  Came to this thread a bit late.  My family came to Port Glasgow at the same time as Denis and Julia and I belive that Denis is my Great great grandfather's brother.  We have a family name of Denis (which I have and my father and grandfather were both called Denis (or Denny for short).  I still have an auntie who knew my great grandmother and lived in the same tenement block (which all the family did).  Bay Street is no longer there but the whole family lived in that road or very close to it as Port Gloasgow was not a very big place at the turn of the last century.  I believe that my great grandfather was killed in the first world war (Royal Dublin Fusiliers) and there is an inscription on the war memorial in the town to that effect. My aunty used to visit Northern Ireland/Donegal in her childhood and belives it was somewhere just outside Derry.  The census has the family members down as Mussel Fishermen which is interesting as that is the type of job that immigrants would do now.  MJy family all went on to work on the shipyards.
