I'm not sure about that one heywood - unless (i'm not sure these days!) he changed his name and fudged things a lot - to make it look right.

To me it seems strange that he's easy to follow from 1850-1891, even 1903 (to a point) then just goes into fantasy land. While I accept people did do this kind of thing back then, I'm finding him a particular nightmare.

Yes Millie, his occupation is listed as Stableman (Railway.)

I doubt he had that job for that long.

Albert Herbert* Walter and Maud Pack were the married pair in October 1919, and lived at Jesse's address of 64 Blomfield Road.

Lucy Walter, the informant, was the said wife (widow - the death cert says this) was said as living at 64 blomfield road as well, so I can't understand where she vanished to, or any records before 1918.

1911 is even harder. I think I only found it as someone listed as "william walter" as a lodger with another family, who's about 60 years old at the time.

1918, at the end they lived at 64 blomfield road, london. Herbert, the son, lived there after he died, but what happened before 1918 i'm not sure, and I can't access the Electoral Roll - as he's listed on ancestry multiple times (anything around Paddington, i'm convinced is him, as he died there.)

The 1891 census listed by Milliepede is correct.

The 1901 census I had shoeboxed on Ancestry says:
Henry Walter 48 looks Like Wdow in the status box. Also can't even read where it says he's born. Looks like N. K. and three letters after, impossible to tell.
Jessie (15 in 1891) died in 1900. - I know this, because I've obtained the death certificate, and Jesse Walter was the informant. And happened at the same address.
Herbert wasn't there.
Earnest is listed. Age 20 looks like Metal something for job, looks like London St. Pancras but again, very hard to read.

Hi, I hhope i've posted this in the right place!

I know a lot about this ancestor i've got here, Jesse Walter - b. 1850 in Berkshire to Elijah & Hannah Walter /walker.

I know most of the details about him, all the children and census entries up to 1891 - where he's in Paddington, with 3 children, Herbert, Earnest & Jessie. His wife (Eliza) dies in about 1892, but 1901 onwards he starts using other names like Henry and William (maybe, in 1911).

He died on 24th Feb 1918 (I have the certificate.) That's where i've hit a problem. His informant is listed as Lucy Walter, widow. But i've got no idea who she is, where a marriage note is (if it happened at all, or just put on the form that way) or what happened.

It's clear 18 months later his son Herbert and wife got married and were living at the same address - in October 1919 - but I can't find any evidence of her.

Plus i'm missing reliable info about Jesse from 1903 onwards and seems sketchy. Does anyone know anything I don't here? as i'm getting confused.

If any other info is needed, I'll add some.

Thanks,
Richard

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Re: The Duffy's.

Ok I don't know if by chance I struck a breakthrough on Thomas Duffy - just a guess but I don't know (head's in a spin) whether it all connects.

I found a death record on 29th July 1836 (burial) for a Thomas Duffy in St.Patrick, Lancashire. Not sure if it's related, as any census entries post this (1841) Theresa Duffy doesn't have any Husband listed.

So, I thought, about 40 years back for a birth record, perhaps in a similar area, (and had to include Ireland, of course)

And stumbled on a record (book entry) of a baptism on 15th May 1797 at St.Mary's, Lancashire. With Edward & Elizabeth Duffy as parents. There's another listing in Dunshaughlin in Meath, but i'm not sure whether, either, or any is correct at this stage.

James Hoy - he is listed on the christening record as the father. (I did shoebox it on my Ancestry account.)

Would be strange, although another son "peter" being found could be useful.

I did find a pallo's index and marriage record for a Thomas & Theresa Duffy in 1818 - in Marylebone area again, but offers no further clues whether "Thomas Duffy actually existed and where he came from :p

I don't.

Any further information going back knowing more about Thomas & Theresa Duffy would be welcome - although Thomas might be suitable for the lancashire thread, I think the irish one would be needed for Theresa!

Yep, those 1841 & 51 are correct.

Now it gets more tricky.

Theresa's father on the baptism is James Hoy.

But.
Who was the Thomas "Riley" from earlier, there is no records about him or whoever he is (the father I presume to the other children, Thomas, Mary & Susan.
