Thank you, Brendan,  I have seen 1911.

My Grandad served in the Royal Munster Fuseliers [number: 6587] and then the Highland Light Infantry [number:64251].  His brother, Daniel McCarthy, also joined up.

The Medals we have for Jack are the Star Medal, Victory Medal & the British War Medal.  After the War he was treated at Leopardstown Park Hospital @ Blackrock, dublin for war injuries and received an army pension.  He had a limp for rest of life and was markedly facialy disfigured from burns.

Jack married Elizabeth Losty in 1923 in Dublin and they moved to Cork city & lived in Mahoney's Terrace off Dominic Street.   Elizabeth died young in 1938 in Cork and Jack died in 1956 in Dublin so I didnt know them.

Best wishes for your research

Interested in the McCarthy's in Strand Road in 20th C.  I have the 1911 data -their parents were dead by then.  Does anyone have marriage for parents?
thanks

Bedfordshire Completed Look ups / Re: Muster Lists-completed thank you

For Regular soldiers it is worth looking in UK National Archives too [useful for French Wars] - It seems easier to search by village.  It gives name & age etc
Cant see anything for your people - but it is worth looking sometimes.

The Beccles area of Suffolk it seems judging by 1901?  Now living in Caddington, Bedfordshire?  I am not too sure as I have only seen the index for 1901  :(

Bedfordshire Lookup Requests / Isabella WATSON 1891 Census?

Isabella WATSON is about 25 in 1891.  Possibly has her baby [Mary] with her in Beccles, Suffolk.  Or possibly Newport, Salop? She lives there for a couple of years.

She has quite a few children, I think.  I dont know if she married or when she died  ::)

Bedfordshire Lookup Requests / NEWTON or NORTH [Theobold John]
« on: Wednesday 06 October 10 07:55 BST (UK)  »
Hi

This bloke appears to have began life in Bedford as Theobold John N Newton [in last quarter of 1890].  Cant see him on the 1891...

He is alled ''Theobad G NORTH'' on 1901 census & is living with parents, John Jos Newton NORTH , & mother, Elizabeth  and brother Horace [aged 4]

By 1910 he marries Lilly CLARK & is calling himself Theobold John NORTH ;D and they have 4 children by 1920..

And on the 1911, he is a NORTH too, so is Horace.

I am confused about the name changes ??? ::) :P :-X
