Hello SG Williams,

Check out the latest release from the Military Service Pensions Collection
http://www.militaryarchives.ie/collections/online-collections/military-service-pensions-collection-1916-1923/release-history/november-2020-release

By coincidence, I was looking through the list and came across 4 no Patrick O'Neill's, all from the Dublin area
Patrick O'Neill - 24SP5010
Patrick O'Neill - 4P389
Patrick O'Neill - 4P366
Patrick O'Neill - 4P469

As mentioned above, the Military Service Pension Collection holds a wealth of information, and lists of members of the different companies of the Dublin Brigade

I wish you well in your research

Good Luck

Hello dathai,

Many thanks for your prompt response as always

That is definitely the pub but that was not its name when we visited, I am sure it was called the Four something? but I could be wrong

It was a locals pub when we visited, not many in, but we were made very welcome when I told them my father and his family used to live a few doors down the road, no 56 Capel Street

Much appreciated with the google street map link

Hello all,

Looking for the name of a pub that has closed down in Capel Street, Dublin

I last visited the pub approx  8-9 years ago with my father

The pub was at the very top of Capel Street on the left-hand side as you walked up from the Liffey, I am sure it was the last building on the corner

Regards

Thank you again dathai,

You have a wealth of knowledge

I printed off the portal inspection order, great information ref - Dublin for the Silloth & Isle of Man Steamers - entered from Commons Street, exit at Custom House Quay, is there a map I can view to accompany the Inspection Order ?

I also tried checking the Isle & Silloth web site and asked if there were any records of former employees but to no avail

Thank you dathai & Sinnan,

Have come across the name Scully before, and it could have been taken down incorrectly by the Bureau Of Military Pensions, but my great uncle Thomas seems pretty clear on the address

Checked the 1901 census - Jeremiah Scully - occupation - clerk - corn store

Checked the 1911 census - Jeremiah Scully - occupation - clerk in warehouse

Edward Scully looks interesting - brother of Jeremiah Scully - occupation - Ship Stevedore

Need to check address

Cheers all
