Staffordshire Lookup Requests / Gordon Horace Morgan - Newspaper Article Search
« on: Saturday 08 July 23 23:45 BST (UK)  »
Hi I was wondering if anyone could help in finding a newspaper article that family members remember seeing.

I am looking for an article about Gordon Horace Morgan, from Walsall area falling off the water cooling towers in Rugeley. He would have been about 17 or 18, so the event would have happened about 1949 / 1950.

One member remembers the headline "Spiderman falls ?? Feet and Survives"

I've joined the newspapers.com site, but doesn't go far enough back.

Could anyone help?

Thank you.
Gill

Hi and thank you. unfortunately information is sketchy at the moment as only just heard about it. He was born in Walsall in 1932. So would be looking from 1948 onwards.

Staffordshire / County Long Jump Championships - Army
« on: Friday 06 February 15 22:03 GMT (UK)  »
Hi I was wondering whether anyone could give some suggestions. My husband has just informed me that his father was a long jump county champion when he was in the army. His name is Gordon Morgan and he was born in Staffordshire.

Any ideas on where I could search for information on the county long jump?

Immigrants & Emigrants - General / Re: Passenger Lists - McArdle - Orotava Ship
« on: Sunday 24 April 11 08:27 BST (UK)  »
Hi everyone, thanks for your replies.

Sorry I did mean that he was born about 1867.
The information I have is only from family stories, but it was believed that he came from the USA on the Orotava as a marine fireman. He was married in Liverpool in 1915, but was married before this as well.

I have looked on Ancestry but I can't access the passenger lists, but I know there are some names matching. I was hoping one would be on the Orotava ship.

Thanks

Hi, could anyone do a search for me please?
I'm looking for a John McArdle primarily on the Orotava (or Oratava) ship.
He was apparently a marine fireman.
He was about 1867.

Thanks very much.

United States of America / McArdle - Massachussets - LOOK UP
« on: Thursday 21 April 11 14:36 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
It would be much appreciated if someone could do a look up for me.

I'm looking for a John McArdle born about 1867. He got married in Liverpool, but it is believed that he came from USA. The rumour is that he was on the Oratava (or Orotava) ship as a marine fireman, but I can't find his details on any passenger lists.

His father was a Michael McArdle per marriage certificate.

I have found a John Thomas McArdle on the 1880 census in Norfolk county, Massachussets, whose father is Michael. Could anyone find this family on the 1870 census for me?

Many thanks
