London and Middlesex / Re: London Baptisms
« on: Wednesday 24 December 14 15:00 GMT (UK)  »
The London Baptisms on A******y only go up to 1906 so the younger children's baptisms wouldn't be there anyway. I do wonder though if the parents may have waited until after their marriage before baptising children if indeed they bothered at all!

London and Middlesex / Re: Thomas RIDYARD

A Thomas Ridyard appears on the Index to Death Duty Registers in 1828, address in Camden Town. I think the Will can be seen on A.......y but as I don't have a sub at the moment I can't tell you if it's your Thomas. Maybe someone else can, if you don't have a sub either!

Sue

Not so sure about the above now. The index gives Thomas' name as Thos N Ridyard and on further investigation I've found a Thomas Newton Ridyard marrying an Elizabeth Coole in Middlesex at some point (again no sub so I can't get exact date) Which begs the question - how certain are you that the Thomas and Elizabeth in Holborn are yours from Lincs and not these  others?

A John May, Blacksmith of Stony Stratford  married an Elizabeth Brailey of Ewell 4 Nov 1734 according to Clandestine (Fleet) Marriages.

Ewell is about 7 miles from Wimbledon according to the AA!

Essex Completed Lookup Requests / Re: FELIX SWALLOW
« on: Saturday 28 June 14 17:36 BST (UK)  »
A Sidney Swallow, born 1895, Clare, was killed in Flanders 1917. I can't see a birth for a Sidney Swallow in that year but it was a very cursory look. Perhaps he dropped the Felix?

Unfortunately I can't see any other military records for Sidney to confirm one way or another.

A quick look at 1911 finds a Sidney Swallow in Yorkshire. Right pob etc.

She was baptised at Bryanston Sq St Mary, under the surname Woods, 29 Oct 1834. Parents Joseph and Hannah, father's occ. as on marriage record. All on A******y!

Bear in mind that Joseph could have died overseas as a serving soldier.

Thank you, Shirl and David.

I'll give the Yahoo Group a try but must admit I'm beginning to wonder if the only way I'll get to look at these records is a holiday at the records office in Taunton! Now there's an idea...

Thanks Sharon,

Yes I have tried FreeReg  :'(  Unfortunately there are no entries in the right time frame for my names. I've found lots of marriages so I find it hard to believe that none of them had any children!

Somerset / Yeovil Baptisms 1740 - 1800
« on: Friday 18 October 13 09:08 BST (UK)  »
I've been hunting high and low for any online Yeovil Baptisms for the second half of the 18thC to no avail. I've also looked at possibly buying a CD but again no joy. This is my first foray into Somerset, can anyone give me any advice on where to look, please.

Thanks

Sue
