Hello again,
Thanks for your reply. Una and my Dad were quite close. She was also my godmother. I saw her a few times when we visited Donegal and have met your Dad, Pat and also Derry. I think one of your cousins trained with me as a teacher at Carysfort, Blackrock in the eighties.  I do have some photos of the family e.g my parent's wedding etc... I also know that Una was a twin and her twin died either in childbirth or when she was very young. If you wish to communicate further, you can find me on facebook Ann M Rogers, Kiama Australia..I don't think we are allowed to put our emails in these posts.
Regards Ann

Hello,
Your information appears inaccurate. However I am guessing that  your grandmother's name was Una Britton.
Her parents were Patrick H Crennan and Annie Laherty. ( my grandparents).     if this is correct, then she is my late Aunt. She had two sisters Evelyn, Carmel and three brothers Joe, Kevin and my father Noel. They were from Abbeyleix, Co . Laoise, which is where I was born. Does this make sense to you? Please get back to me if it does.
Regards
Ann

Apart from the websites mentioned above which have lots of data based resources, you could try contacting the Abbeyleix Heritage Centre.. i do not have their contact details but you may find them on the website abbeyleix.ie. There is also a recent facebook page on Abbeyleix that perhaps you could post a message on there. Hope that is of some help.

Hello Mike
I did not send a picture of attachment as my post was a reply.  I would probably be able to recognise Kevin from old photos I have seen. when you send me the posts I shall let you know. Just out of interest, what is your connection or interest in the family? Thanks

Check out Abbeyleix  records, there are at least three Maher families, that I personally know of living there

I find that hard to believe as I know for a fact there are three seperate graves there for Crennans. The oldest one  (name may not be recognisable) is situated in the old graveyard up the steps 2nd or 3rd grave  to the left backing onto a wall and near the back door entrance of the Church.  Patrick H Crennan , his wife and some of his sons/daughters are all buried there. It is a very old grave. I am a direct descendant of this family ( maiden name Crennan originally from Abbeyleix). My Uncle Joe is also buried in a seperate grave in the same cemetary.

I am sure this is a picture of my Uncle Joseph  died about 1978 and Aunt Mary (died) early seventies. I am a Crennan from Abbeyleix and yes there is a grave there. I now live in Australia. Please email me@ (*) for further information. :)
