I now know in which battery he served if it`s possible to get a history of them?

He was in the 10th Brigade Royal Artillery, 6th Battery (the Gunners) when he landed at Pembroke Dock on 2nd November 1875.

Any further information o the 6th Battery would be great thanks ;D

There is no mention of the battery just "10th brigade RA" with the forts mentioned in 1861 at find my past, but that was a while ago, I`ll see what else I can dig up on him.....

He was an Army pensioner leaving c.1882 but no luck with his pension records either as yet.....Doing a good job of hiding from me :(

Hi,
Don`t know if you can help, but would you have any information on the 10th Brigade RA between 1860 - 1882?

My Great Great Grandfather, 358 Henry George THURLOW served with that Brigade during his 20 years + in the RA.

I have some info:

1861 he served in the 10th Brigade Royal Artillery at Blockhouse Fort, Fort Monkton (now used as MI6 training establishment), Fort Elson, Portsmouth, Isle of Wight)

1866 he went to Canada (Fenian Raids).

1875 - sailed to Pembroke Dock in 1875 from where he retired c.1882.

Any information you can add on the 10th Brigade to fill in the missing years, would be greatly appreciated.... :)

Don`t know as yet as we haven`t yet got the Bible so don`t know what names are in it, though it`s unlikely they will still be in the area, we will check.....

The Llandyfodwg PRs are still on the radar but we need to complete a project for the necessary equipment first :)
