No unfortunately there's nothing on the back, just heavy card stock.  Not sure we'll ever find out who the fella in the picture is, but at least we now know the name of the uniform.

Cheers :)

New Zealand Completed Requests / Re: John Kear Robertson & the Natal Military

Hi,

Agnes Ann Gibb Watt and John Kear Robertson are my grandparents.

David Walker Robertson and Annie Kear Robertson went to New Zealand with four of their children:

Jane Helen
Agnes Walker
David Walker
Arthur William

another daughter Ann we understand stayed in Scotland, my grandfather John fought in the Boer War then came to Canada, he returned to fight in the war where he met my Agnes and returned to Canada after the war.

David Walker Sr., Annie Kear, Arthur William and Agnes Walker are all buried in the Karori Cemetery.  David Walker Jr. apparently died on one of the Pacific Islands.

Jane was married in Scotland to John Smith Jackson.

 Cheers

Hi,

Thanks for the information and picture, we actually have that picture of Bridget, it is one of the only pictures my Gramma had.  We would love to see other pictures also.

It is kinda a coincidence that she left the same year Thrift died, although I believe they had always planned to come to Canada as my Grandpa had come to Canada before the war and had property here, he returned to Scotland to fight in the war where he met and married my Gramma, their first son was born in Sept 1918, I'm not sure of the acutal month in 1919 that they came but I know it was in the winter as my Gramma talked about travelling in the snow.

Sadly my Gramma never made it back to Scotland, my Grampa died in 1938 so she was left with a farm to run and kids to raise.  She often spoke of Stonehaven and although she had a good life here we believe she was always home sick for Scotland.

Thanks again, looking forward to seeing more.

Cheers.

Debbie

Hi,

Great to hear from you.  Yes Anges (she was born in 1893) and my grandfather John came to Canada in 1919 and settled on a farm in Merville on Vancouver Island in British Columbia and had 10 kids.  My grandma passed away in 1970, my dad James is the youngest of their children.

I have the following names of Bridget's other children:

Roy - 1897
Andrew - 1898 or 1899
Mary - 1900
Lizzie -
James - 1908
George - 1909
Martha - 1911
Sandy - 1913
Margaret -

Do you know if these are the correct dates?
Do you have any information on Bridgets siblings?

It's great to find a relative.  My grandfathers family all went to New Zealand except him and one sister that stayed in Scotland.  And as far as we know my grandparents were the only ones then that came to Canada.

Cheers,

Rob1616

Hi,

My GG Grandfather was Thrift Watt and GG Grandmother was Agnes Dorian.

My Grandmother Agnes Watt was the oldest daughter of Briget Watt who married Munroe Gove.

Agnes came to Canada in 1919 with her husband John Kear Robertson.

I'm looking for anyone who may have information on the Watt or Dorian line.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Researching my family and wondering if anyone may have my GGG David Walker and Margaret Rait in their ancestory.

David Walker I believe was born in 1784 and Margaret Rait I believe was born in 1789.  They were married in Alyth Perth on June 20, 1813.  I have their kids name.

I was looking for their siblings and parents.

Thanks.
