Wexford / Re: Joseph BERGIN of Wexford

Hi Chris,
Many thanks for this. Joseph was my wife's grandfather and we know that there are some of his grandchildren still living near Wexford. So we hope to make contact before long and make the trip across the Irish Sea.
Thanks again and best wishes,
John

Hi Kim,
If you want to let me know more about Mary ( her date of birth etc) I might have more information about the Spruce family to fill in any gaps. However, as you say, there were quite a few Spruces in the Frodsham and Kingsley area, even going back to 1756.
Best wishes,
John

Jean,

Many thanks for this. My main problem is that I cannot find any trace of the family after 1881 until Bridget (then a widow) turns up in Liverpool in 1901 with youngest son Patrick (and a daughter from her previous marriage). I wondered whether any notes were made in the Baptism or Marriage registers, as they sometimes are. I just need to know where to inspect these registers before I make a trip to Scotland from Derby.

Best wishes,
John

My great grandfather Thomas Flaherty married Bridget Brogan in September 1878 in St Mary's RC church in Greenock. They had 3 children who were probably baptised there. I'd be very grateful if anyone could tell me how I can locate the parish records for that period.

Thanks for this, Chris. I believe there are still some of my wife's relations living in Wexford so I hope to get more info from them.

Cheshire Completed Lookup Requests / Re: Kingsley records - Spruce

Hi Carol,

My gg grandfather was John Spruce. As you can see from my original entry peterbennet has provided some very interesting information. There seem to have been a few Spruce families in Cheshire in the early part of the 19th century, so it's a bit confusing at present - but exciting!
Best wishes,
John

Many thanks, Peter. This is very exciting. John and Sarah Bostock's wedding was on 10 Oct 1838. The witnesses were Thomas Lewis and Mary Illidge.

I'll now look up the Spruces and may take up your kind offer of help.

Best wishes,
John
