Yes that's definitely them thanks-if I recall Martha or Matilda Duffy married John Black in St Columb's C of Ireland-her father was a John or James Duffy(I think have it somewhere!) from Sherriffs Mountain but haven't been able to find any record of the Duffy family but I know she was listed as C of Ireland on their marriage certificate-any leads there?
tks

Derry (Londonderry) / Gardner Gordon Surgeon

anybody have any information on this person? His father George was an 18 th century Apothecarist  possibly in the Diamond in Londonderry-I know Gardner graduated from Glasgow University in 1775 and was made a Freeman of the city that same year with Richard Laird -also licenced to practise as a surgeon. In 1773 Gardner Gordon is reported to have taken over the business of his late father but I have no other details.

I suspect that he may have been involved with the United Irishmen but again am not too sure on this

tks wow

Does anyone have any information on the above-I know that he was born in Paisley Scotland and that he was a master painter and that some of his work records are in PRONI. There is I think some connection with my  family as a great uncle of mine appears to have been involved in the purchase of the house in Bishop Street. In the 1901 census Henry resides there with his wife Flora and nephew William Wright born in the city and painter by trade. Henry and Flora do not seem to have any children with them and if William is their nephew then his mother is either a sister of Henry or Flora(I presume)

I dont see them in the 1911 census and have no other information- I see that there are two other McIndoe families in 1911 census living in Co Down and Antrim-both heads of these families were born in Scotland so just wondering wether they may be children of Henry and Flora

Thanks

Thanks not too sure if that is him but will take a look at it-there were Duffys on Whitehouse Road(i think) in Griffiths but not a Thomas and not too sure that this would be considered Sherriffs Mountain-wondering is the COI accurate-cant see any 1901 census COI Duffys
