Thank you, Polar Bear.  I assumed I couldn't/shouldn't post my email, I think I have found the solution.  I just don't want to dominate these posts with stuff that is just relevant to the 2 of us.  We are closely connected.  Thank you.

I would like to chat with you, Northrn Girl, but I don't know how to connect with you without putting my email right here.  How do I do it?

Yes, it is odd, unless they were named after 2 favourite Grannies!  And you are right, Angus, Margaret, Peigi, Norman and William should all be in the census.
I am wondering if they are in the list of Emigrants?  I know they emigrated in 1849, probably with the masses that were cleared by Colonel Gordon.

Thank you, forfarian, I haven't had much luck on freeCEN, so didn't even try to look there!  Sorry.  The only dates I have for children of Kenneth are born after 1841:
William born 1840
Mary born 1845
Murdoch born 1847
Alexander 1849
So our Angus and Mary would not have been in 1841.
Thanks for trying.  I have only just received this old family 2 page 'history', so thought it worth a try for the census or emigration, I have not tried checking the censuses after their arrival in Canada.  Will do so later!

Not on an....ry, no.  I have a hard time posting all my years of research on over 5000 people for free, and have them sell it to make a profit.  I want it to be free for other people to refer to. I use an old Family Tree Maker, which crashed last week. Fortunately reclaimed most of it.
Do you live in the vicinity of Parkhill? I don't know how I could get copies of those photos, which I would love.  Should it be done by private email?

If anyone has access to Bill Lawson's List of Emigrants (fromHarris), I would greatly appreciate a lookup for another connection to Donald McLeod family:
Kenneth McDonald (born 1808) and wife Jane McLeod (born 1817) emigrated in 1849 with 8 surviving children (2 had died in Harris):
Angus,
Margaret
Peigi
Norman
William
Mary
Murdoch
Alexander born in 1849 just before the journey

Is it also possible to see if they are in the 1841 Census?
I know this is a lot, but I have no way of finding this information, especially in days of lockdown! Thank you so much,
Wendy

I have also had difficulty in finding Alexander, not on any censuses, within 8 years of his proposed birthday.  It is possible that he went to Michigan, as some nieces did.  Neil is in West Williams, Lot 5, Conc 21.  You can locate him and Donald on the 1878 McGill Atlas.
Mags posted sometime ago that she had photos of Donald and other family, I am wondering if there is any way to get copies of those photos.  He is our direct grgranddad, married to Mary Robertson.

Yes, Donald McLeod and Mary Robertson are my husband's great grandparents, and Katherine McLeod married Robert C. Stevenson.  I know about John dying from an elderly aunt.  Also that a large group was 'cleared' during the highland clearances, and came together on 3 emigrant ships, The Mount Stuart, The Atlantic, and the Tusker.  John became ill on the journey, so Sarah and the children stayed in Ingersoll until after his death before joining the large group.  They were headed for Bornish, Ontario, which is now Parkhill area.
I am interested to know if there is a listing in Bill Lawson's book for Alexander McLeod, possibly before his parents, as he wasn't listed with their group.

Neil did marry Mary McDonald, was still in West Williams in 1901
