My 3 x gt. grandmother was Sarah Gale, who married William Weekes of Taunton on 21 Nov 1782 at Bishops Hull. I'm keen to find out more about her family. No records found in the Somerset Register Office.

Hello Pere David.
Yet another cousin seems to have appeared on the scene related to the Fletchers of Chester. I believe that the Robert referred to by you as the Goldsmith and non-comformist of Chester, is the same as the Robert who died in Romsey in 1841 and who, it seems, married Eleanor Grainley in 1756, and was the father of, amongst others, Joseph the Independant/Congregational minister in Blackburn and Stepney, London.
I am learning new facts about this family daily.

I have only just discovered your discussion regarding the Fletchers of Chester. I have had considerable trouble with this family for lack of information. My 4 x greatgrandparents were Joseph Fletcher and Mary French. Joseph (1784-1843) was the minister of the Independant chapel, Stepney and lived at Cottage Grove, Mile End.
Today I received a copy of the admon. doc. from Chester Record Office of his father, Robert's estate, confirming that he was a silversmith of Chester, who died 22 Oct 1841 in Romsey, Hants. I assume that this must be the same Robert who was the elder of the two well known clockmakers of Chester, although the only other reference to his family that I have so far found was to his daughter Mary, who published a volume of poetry in 1846 with Joseph.
It seems, from your corresponence, that Robert might have been the son of James Fletcher (Cordwainer) who married Mary Dennil (?), and that he was the son of Robert (bap. 1681) & Elizabeth Stuard (d.1719).
This is a big leap forward in my information on the family and I would be most interested to see your extensive Fletcher tree; and also to know if you are able to supply the name of Robert the elder's wife.
