Hello John. Sorry to hear about your experience in Smyllum. I was there for three years but it was before your time. I understand though some if what kids went through there.
Have you thought about contacting the Child Abuse Inquiry at

« on: Wednesday 13 April 16 19:48 BST (UK)  »
Hello, everyone.
I'm trying to find information on Gladys Chow my aunt by marriage.
She married my uncle William Dunlop in St. Theresa's RC Church in Kowloon Hong Kong in 1950's
Gladys Dunlop came to Scotland in 1950's with two young sons, Unfortunately, she didn't settle in Scotland and returned to Hong Kong.
I would love to know what happened to Gladys and her sons.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

Thanks gc1, MonicaL and rosie17. That's helpful information. I was particularly interested in the passenger list info as it confirmed that Catherine had gone to Canada. I can now look for her in Canadian censuses.
I also found confirmation today on Ancestry that her husband was Canadian. He was here during the war I believe.

Hello everyone
I know this is a long shot. I'm doing some family history for a friend and am looking for marriage of John Keegan and Mary Toner. This would have taken placein the 1840s I think but don't know which county. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Many thanks.

Australia / Re: Captain Patrick COLLINS: Australian Navy
« on: Saturday 14 April 12 19:18 BST (UK)  »
Hello Emma.
I was delighted to hear from you and hope we can keep in touch.
I have been studying the family history for the past few years.
Catherine Collins, my grandmother was your Pop's mother.

Your Pop and Nan were Aunt Pat and Uncle Paddy to myself and my two brothers.
When I was about  nine years old my Gran took me to Gosport to visit Pat and Paddy and their children. Uncle Paddy was then serving in the Royal Navy.

Emma we can send each other private messages by using the green scroll icon where you write messages. This allows us to talk about family matters between us. The site removes messages sometimes if they are giving info about living relatives.

I can send you the bits of family history that I have researched. I will also send you a private message giving you my email address and more info

Thanks for getting in touch and let's keep in touch.
Agnes
