United States of America / Re: Wakefield's

Thanks Sandra!  <img src="http://r12.imgfast.net/users/1211/18/99/91/smiles/945630.gif">

Andrew wasn't really a Wakefield, he was illegitimate and his mother Jane and Richard married in Scotland after he was born, but then told porkies on their subsequent son's birth cert as to their actual marriage date so Andrew himself might even have been confused as to his actual year of birth - who knows lol!

Andrew was really a Bremner, but was never known as such (there's a thread on Rootschat somewhere about this which I did a while ago as an ID Cuddlye where someone helped me to find the information).

It seems to make sense that this is our Andrew given that the other siblings are all in the area and emigrated at a similar time.

I wonder if he ever knew he wasn't really a Wakefield?  <img src="http://r12.imgfast.net/users/1211/18/99/91/smiles/964687.gif">

PS...
Just found the other thread:

Hi Sandra  <img src="http://r12.imgfast.net/users/1211/18/99/91/smiles/61485.gif">

I'd just like to thank you for all the information on this thread - I'm a relative of Keith who started the thread.

I think the Cape May information may also relate to us, as when I did some brief research on the Wakefield's out there, I found who I thought to be Andrew, the elder brother living in Cape May NJ working I think at the Sugar plant there.

The other connections that have been made - Isabella to William Blair living in Yonkers, I did also find...but hadn't a clue about all the other information of their descendants, so this is all so interesting to me!

Thank you once again <img src="http://r12.imgfast.net/users/1211/18/99/91/smiles/574242.gif">

Certainly looks that way Mort!

Jean, I was just checking my same family's census for 1881 and they have a Jane Mills living with them, born Birmingham 1862.  Could this be one of your Mills?  If so, we have a connection as she is a niece of the head of my Parsons family.

Hello Jean :)

Couldn't resist posting as I stumbled across this thread while researching my family in 1871.

It seemed my lot lived at number 19 New Vauxhall Terrace and yours were next door!

Small world  ;)
