Hi
I read this with a great deal of excitement and interest as I am also descended from Janet Harkness and Duncan Weir. I am descended through their daughter Janet who married a Turner. The Turner family eventaully came to Victoria Australia where quite a few stayed. However, some went up to New South Wales and it is through them that I am descended (we eventually ended back up in Victoria as my Grandpa was in the Navy and married my Grandmother who lived here. I am more than happy to share what I have with anyone related or interested. I am just miffed I didn't find this link 6 months ago when I was living in the UK!

Hi Kate
As far as I am aware the family history libraries don't have them but I might be wrong. I will check. Unfortunately I might have to wait until I can get to Dublin as it is a bit far from here (Australia!!!!!!)   ;D
Thanks Christy

Hi
It might be a bit out of reach but anything is worth a try. I have a couple who married in Dublin on 28 jan 1804 at the Mansion House Dublin. The grooms (John Hutton) father Henry Hutton was mayor of Dublin at the time. The bride and groom were of opposite beliefs and had to have dispensation to marry. Apparently the ArchBishop married them. Due to the nature of the marriage I have been advised that it is highly unlikely that there is actually a marriage registration for them.
If you have any resources that might give me some more info especially on the brides family (Her name was Jane Burton, her father was Edward William Burton and she had an uncle by the name of Mr Blood)
Thanks
Christy

US Lookup Requests / 1859-69 UK to US
« on: Wednesday 17 August 05 12:06 BST (UK)  »
Hi
Am having trouble finding one of my people. Her name is Fanny Gyles and she was born in 1849 in the Liverpool area. I would think that she didn't move to the US until at least 1859. She would have arrived in New York area or at least the side of the US. She married Henry Schroeder and their daughter Ann Elizabeth was born in 1869 in New York (not sure wether state or city) She and Ann left the US for Australia, Henry had either died in the US or on the boat on the way over.
Fanny and Ann had arrived in Australia by 1872.

These timelines narrow things down a littlt but I have had no luck at all in finding any shipping records at all either from the UK to US or US to AUS.

I would be most grateful for even the smallest scrap of info as I am completely stumped!

Cheers Kris
Could you do me a favour and look for a family in the South Petherton area by the surname of Callow (possibly Caller though) This would be Carolines parents  so they would be aged somewher in their 50's (ish) at the 1851 census. I have a certificate with her maiden name but it is unclear wether it is Callow or Caller.
Thanks
Christy
