Armagh / Re: smith/smyth
« on: Saturday 02 October 10 13:33 BST (UK)  »
Hello,
I'm also looking for SMITH ancestors @ Newtown Hamiltom Armagh Ire.
- my g/g/gfather Michael  Smith bc1811
and his brother John b.c 1809  b at Newtown Hamilton Armagh.
Their parents - Henry(Harry) SMITH and Bridget Hannah WAY.

Michael married Mary Ann daughter of Thomas/ Mary CALLAGHAN (?)b.Louth.
John married Mary MACRISH (MACREESH ?)

Michael and John were shipped to Australia 1835.
I have Michaels descendants (to 1998) except for one grandaughter Ann.

I've found John's only daughter Catherine married in Ireland to Patrick McDonald bCreggan Armagh -  they came to Australia in 1857. Had 7 girls - from BD&M, one married a Southerland - one married a MacNerney - I haven't researched further as yet or been in touch with John's descendants.

I'm wondering if Michael and John had brothers and sisters in Armagh. I've done the usual research BD&M on the internet and searched message boards. Maybe someone has my SMITHS on their tree.
Thanks
Elaine

Tiffaney -  I Googled - Berridale cemetery UK -
and came up with Berriedale Cemetery, Caithness, Scotland - 25 miles s/w of Wick. There's an Old and New Berriedale Cemetery + many others in Caithness.

Berridale Cemetery, known as Gegedzerick Cemetery, is situated next to St. Mary's  Anglican Church, app. 2 kilometres East of Berridale, NSW.
There are around 350 marked graves and probably many unmarked graves.
Info in a book - Ann Miners grave has an inscription - death date and birth date - errected by her sons and daughters.
Sorry, I haven't got a camera to take the photo.

Wiltshire Lookup Requests / Re: POWELL from Hilperton, Wiltshire
« on: Tuesday 31 August 10 16:38 BST (UK)  »
Nina & Kris,
William Powell and Mary Ann Huntley are my g/g/parents.
I've just started to research my mother's line - Powell & Huntley  +  Chapman & Pearce from Wiltshire.
I found William Powell and Mary Ann Huntley's marriage on ancestry.com - they were married in Apr-May-June 1849 at Bath  Avon  Somerset.

Their son Fred Huntley Powell b.c. 1857 is Mum's g/father - who married Agnes Pearl Chapman in Dec. 1886 and came out to Australia in 1887.
I haven't any certificates as yet. I found and printed out the above surnames from the North Wiltshire online Census 1861 - I haven't had time to go through it yet.

Nina - do you know of any other siblings or family connections?
