Know your posts are now old but have only just joined and come across them. Am very interested in your ref to Samuel Hall being your gggg-grandfather, as have been doing my wifes FH for some years and he is hers also. Also was intrigued by the 'parental consent' referred to as had also noticed this. However I noted that during that period (1810-1830) nearly all marriages carried out at Gillingham/East Stour/West Stour - particularly those performed by a Walter Whitaker - have that comment. In some cases the comment reads - with consent of ALL parents!!. It seems very obvious that around that time and for those parishes, and that gentleman in particular it was used just as a general comment and not to signify that those being married were under age. At a guess I would say that about 90% of the marriages during that period have that comment. Find it very hard to believe that they were all under age!!
