Yorkshire (West Riding) / Re: CHARLESWORTH FAMILY LEEDS

Hi Nan

I think that your Charlesworths are the ones I'm researching. My ancestor, Mary Ann Charlesworth was born in Leeds, daughter of Henry Charlesworth. They moved to London sometime before 1851, when Henry's son was born in London. They were living in St Giles Cripplegate. I think that Henry may be Isaac's brother, as well as the brother of William.

William was born in about 1812 and I have his marriage certificate which shows his father as Jonathan, a cloth draper. William was born in Honley. He moved to London sometime before 1847, which is when he got married in Lambeth. He was a tobacco manufacturer.

Henry was born in about 1819, in Leeds. He was also a tobacconist.

My reasoning is that 3 men, all born in Yorkshire, all ending up in London, all in the tobacco trade, must be related. Also, William and Isaac give their father's name as Jonathan and give him the same trade. I just haven't got Henry linked to them yet (I only discovered him in the 1861 census this week).

The reason you might not have found Jonathan and Sarah in Leeds might be that they married in Honley?
