Staffordshire Lookup Requests / Re: 1861 census Crutchley

Emma Sherratt was born in Guildford Surrey to Thomas Brooker Sherratt and Amelia Walden. In 1834, her father payed for Emma, her parents and 4 siblings to move to Albany, Western Australia where Thomas Brooker was one of the founders of Albany. In Australia, Emma's parents had several more children until her mother died in 1842. Only one of her brothers married and I have been able to track his children and the children of Emma's sisters in Australia and New Zealand.
I found record of a Thomas Crutchley being transported to New South Wales in 1840 and that he was tried at the Stafford Assizes and sentenced to life, but I still don't know if it is the correct Thomas. I also know that Thomas Brooker Sherratt was a whaler and had a boat, the Emma Sherratt, named after his daughter that he sold around the time of her marriage to Thomas. Also her marriage and the birth of her first child Harriet aren't advertised in the papers whilst her sisters' were.
Hope this helps, Kate

Thomas Crutchley (b 1820) somehow (I don't know how yet but it is possible that he was transported in 1840) got to Albany, Australia where in 1847 he married Emma Sherratt and their first child Harriet was born there in 1848. Between then and 1851 they went back to England and had more children including Henry Crutchley (my great great grandfather) who was born in Cannock, Staffordshire in 1851.
