 There were two homes. The one in South Darenth opened in the 1860s and was confusingly called the Farningham Homes for Little Boys. The one in Swanley opened later.

There's a Louisa Brakefield aged 3 months in the 1841 census at Horton Kirby, a village about 3 miles from Dartford. Her parents were William (30, wheelwright) and Sarah (30). Other children were George (7), Emma (6), William (4) and Rebecca (2). They lived in Selby Row. They do not appear in 1851 or later.
