We have recently purchased Scarletts at Cowden. It is in very poor condition and requires a huge amount of work to restore.
Over the years, the farm and its land has been sold off and so it is in a number of ownerships nowadays.
The old Scarletts mill and the mill cottage were unfortunately washed away in the bad flooding of September 1958, when the lake dam was breached. Now the property is overrun with woodland and brambles, but it is extremely beautiful, which is why we bought it.
I would be very interested to see the photo you have; I have one that shows the old oast house in the foreground, and a couple of horses and carts, from around the same time
