Midlothian / Re: VESEY-HOWISON St Cuthberts wedding followed by Carnwath wedding

Jessies father in law, John Sim is an elusive character, John Sim didnt marry his childrens mother Isabella Agnew....He was born we think about 1840 couldnt read or write, Isabella was still Agnew when she died, their 2 children Robert and John both born 1860s,on various census are either Sim or Agnew...trying to find their father Johns death cert is very hard. One John Sim did die at Carnwrath.......so I wonder if that cert is worth looking at ?? Another one is the poor house in Govan  :'(

Few years late in replying here, but just saw this...Jessie Vesey is my Great Grandmother, Janet Howie my Great Great Grandmother... Jessie Vesey died in Gourock or at least is buried in Gourock along with my Great Grandfather Robert Sim..both died in the the 1940s. I can add this info to my family tree now, thank you. Alexanders father Archibald Vesey spent many years as a butler. Alexander married in England in c1873  ..he was a soldier at Aldershot 50th Queens Own Infantry in the 1871 census   Angela

Caroline only married once..died in 1930s in Glasgow aged 89. Her mother though Elizabeth,I have no idea...but will be looking for some more info if Ancestery has another free weekend.I might subscribe as the free info for Scottish records is pretty limited. Scotlandspeople is fab, but costs mount up. If you want info of Carolines and Jessies life in Scotland I will post it here for you ..Angela

PS Alexander Howisons Vesey mother was Janet Howison...his father Archibald, spent much of his life as a butler...
