Stirlingshire / Re: Patersons of St Ninians Stirling
« on: Tuesday 24 May 11 16:31 BST (UK)  »
You're welcome.
They were all Mays, 6th generation i.e children of Helen Mclean, sibs of ROBERT May b 1842 Culross.  (My error, which I've corrected above)
Hence they were sibs of John May 1870
My generation-indenting didn't copy well!

Here we go, 7 generations. Dates are all birth(-death) dates.  Most info is from scotlandspeople, so birth/baptism dates are often interchangeable unless you bother to decipher the document.

Where to start!  I have a lot of Patersons.  Is there one line of the Helen Turnbull descendants you're interested in?

Birth dates. I have marriage dates on my trees.
My ( May) family kept the Paterson name as a middle name for generations.

--dau Margaret 1813 m Andrew MacLean (another St Ninians family, in Throsk)
---dau Helen McLean 1843 married John May of Culross ( my g-grandparents)

One of Thomas and Helen's sons (ploughmanWilliam Paterson) m Margaret Stalker, and emigrated to Ontario Canada in 1869 with dau Mary, and nephew Alexander Wallace, son of Thomas and Andrew's daughter Elizabeth.
Can't find any of the Scotttish ones on the mementomori website, but thanks for mentioning it. May tree on ancestry and also GenesReunited

Antrim / James CRAIG birth, please
« on: Tuesday 10 August 10 18:21 BST (UK)  »
My grandfather James Craig was born in Antrim to William Craig (1847 Templepatrick) and Martha Finlay, both of Browndod, who married in Donegore 25 Jan 1867.
William was a teacher in Browndod at the time of marriage.
The first child I can find is James' sister Margaret, baptised 1873 in Co Down, so James was probably born between 1867 and 1873 in Co Antrim.
