Diolch Huwcyn. I wonder if Ann was from this area......I shall investigate!

Would Caernarfon archives have details of shops/ businesses for the area for the mid 1800's? As the children were born in Caernarfon (except Thomas) I'm thinking Ann & John had a shop there. I only wish his name wasn't John Jones! He had a shop in Holyhead, and I think he was called Jack - possibly even had the nick name of 'Curly Jack' due to his white curly hair & beard! I digress...sorry  :D

Many thanks for the advice!

Will try getting a birth certificate for Thomas.

On his mrriage cert. his address was given as Cefnwaun - is this an area or the name of a house. I can't seem to find it. His occupation was 'quarryman'. Any info or pointers gratefully received  :)

Bit of a long shot here, but I live in hope!!

I'm trying to find my 4 x Great-grandparents family..... my 4 x great-gran Ann was born in Caernarfon...sorry I don't know where exactly.

She was born c1809/1810. She married John Jones (b Flint c1820). He was a shop keeper (small wares/ china/ glass etc). Their children John,Edward & William were born in Caernarfon. Their son Thomas ( my 3 x greatgrandfather) was born in Holyhead. He married Jane Burnell (born Holyhead) in Llanddeiniolen parish church in June 1870.
On the 1851 census the family were living in Swift Square, Holyhead.

I have no record for 1861. By 1871 John has remarried.

It's Ann's family I'm looking for at the moment, and any information about their time in Caernarfon.

Any information would be appreciated...many thanks  :)

Not exactly a new topic......I have a last known whereabouts on great uncle Davis as living in South Porcupine Ontario, in 1936.

He arrived in Canada in 1925, aged 16, from a Sheltering Home in Liverpool. He was sent to live with a William Oudot, a farmer, in Osgoode, Ontario.
I have no further info, apart from the above.

After 1936 I don't know what happened to him. If he stayed in Canada, or came back to the UK. Not sue how to find out either,

If anyone has any information regarding him I would be most grateful a I seem to have hit a wall....many thanks.

Lancashire / William & David McEwan/ Sheltering Homes
« on: Friday 23 September 11 23:47 BST (UK)  »
Has anyone any info about either of my two great uncles, William (1904) & David (1908) McEwan.

Their father was Alexander Stobo McEwan, their mother Mary Ellen. Their mother died in 1913. Their father re-married a Mary Wagner. They had two children, James & Martha.

In 1925, David was admitted to the Liverpool Sheltering Home on Myrtle St. Later that year he was emigrated to Canada.

I was told that William was also sent to Canada, but so far have no evidence of that. So. I assume he stayed in Liverpool.

Can anyone shed any light please.....thank you  :)

Thank you for all the info regarding David & William McEwan.
It seems that William may not have gone to Canada after all, but David's last known whereabouts were in 1936 in South Porcupine, Ontario.

So, I wondered if anyone has any information regarding him from this point on. Anything would be great ....thank you  :)

Lancashire / William & David McEwan

Can anyone help me please?

William(b1904) & David(b1908) were my great uncles and lived in the Sheltering Home on Myrtle St Liverpool in the mid 1900's.
Family tell me that both boys were sent to Canada. I've found David going to Nova Scotia in March 1925, and then going to a farm in Osgoode, Ontario.
However I can't find William. I've tried various passenger lists for various years, and even war records, but no sign of my William.

Any hints or info anyone......many thanks  :)
