Get back here, Rosalie!  JJ has to point out the doubles so that the people helping don't get discouraged because they've spent a lot of time searching only to find it's already been answered elsewhere.  Now you know, so no harm, no foul, as they say!

Now, back to business!  ;D

I have the marriage registration of Arthur and Rose (the real one, not the IGI/family search transcription).  It seems there was a change in occupation after they married, as he was farming in Sidney, British Columbia at the time they married. They married in Vancouver, which is (today) a 2.5 hour trip by a big ferry..... so in 1911? I'm quite curious now as to how they even met.  I can't imagine how Rose would feel thinking she was going to be a farmer's wife in an absolutley gorgeous part of Vancouver Island, only to have him turn into a seafaring man....

PM your email if you'd like a copy sent over to you. Being an older record, it doesn't haven't a ton of info, but it still has lots of interesting tidbits.

Hi bbart

I have sent you a PM. Thanks for your help it is very much appreciated your a gem, you have now started me on a new journey

Hi barb

This is great Sorting out which is the son should not be a problem as he died 29th december 1949 - Dunedin. New Zealand.

When I've finished sorting out the tree I'll be passing it on to their living relatives.

Thanks for your help it takes me a step nearer to finishing this leg of my family tree

They must have arrived in New Zealand by 1919, as they both appear on the Electoral Rolls for that year.

For some reason, although they lived on the same street (and assumably in the same house) they have different towns listed (obviously a mistake, but I don't know which is the correct one!)

Dunedin South Roll (Otego)

Dalgliesh, Arthur Selby, Nile street, St. Clair, mariner
Dalgliesh, Rosie, Nile street, St. Kilda, married

After looking at the 1928, I think the St. Kilda is the correct one:

1928 Dunedin South
Dalgliesh, Arthur Selby, Nile street, S.K. SS Tahiti, master mariner
Dalgliesh, Rosie, Nile street, St. Kilda, married

There are several more Rolls showing address changes/occupation changes for them up to and including Arthur's retirement, if you are interested.

Hi bbart

Yes please any information would be helpful thanks for the offer.

Hi again.

You might check at your local library to see if they subscribe to Ancestry Library Edition. I believe this would give you access to most world records.

I'm looking for help please. My Great Aunt Rose Ann Baxter married Arthur Selby Dalgliesh
in Canada 1912? had a son in Canada then moved to New Zealand. I’ve traced all the family
even the living relatives however none of them know much.  They went to Canada from the
UK on their way to New Zealand I don't know why they went independently or to Canada
maybe because he was at sea

My question is when did they go to New Zealand from Canada, did she go by herself with
her son or did she travel with her husband. Her husband was a captain and so they
could have gone to New Zealand independently.
Thanks in advance for your help Rosalie
