Hi Ainlie, I've already sent an email to 'Hydes Anvil Brewery' and awaiting a reply from them... Plus, I've 'Googled'..

The Royal Crown.
Hydes Brewery
Hydes Anvil Brewery...

I'm hoping the memories and knowledge of this site will solve the unanswered question of "where The Royal Crown' in Ancoats was..?

It was painted by a bloke called Steven Scholes who was born in Bury, UK in 1951. Apparently he now lives in Rochdale, UK.

Lancashire / The Royal Crown pub, Ancoats

Hi, I'm trying to identify the street that a pub is on in a painting I have (should be attached?). The pub is called The Royal Crown and it was in Ancoats, Manchester. Hope Mill is in the back left background. Hope Mill was/is on Pollard Street, Ancoats (between Carruthers Street and Beswick Street). There is also a local shop in the painting and the owners name is 'S. Howorth'. The only other information about the pub is that it was a Hydes Brewery public house.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Great site by the way...

Cheers, Rik
