OOPS. Got her birth year mixed up with Thomas Barry. "Bridey" was born 1859, immigrated 1879. Her son Arthur was a notorious "second story man" (house burglar) in the 1920s, operating in the wealthier areas in and  around New York City. He was the subject of a feature article in "Life Magazine" in 1956.

Cork / Thomas Francis Barry

I am trying to find information about my great grandfather Thomas Francis Barry born 1856 somewhere in County Cork. He left Ireland as a young single man, and the US census of 1900 lists his arrival date as 1879. He met and married (1881) Bridget Teresa Walsh from County Clare in Worcester Massachusetts, where he worked in a brewery. They had eight children survive infancy, and given the family's penchant for naming children after relatives (at least through my father's generation) I list them in hopes it might help to pinpoint the family: Marion, Ella, Evelyn, Francis, Rita (possibly Margareta), Arthur, Lucy, and William. Arthur was an infamous "second-story man" (house robber) in the 1920s and was featured in Life Magazine in 1956.

I am looking for any information on my great grandmother Bridget Teresa Walsh born 1856 somewhere in County Clare. She left Ireand for the US and reports her arrival date on the 1900 US census as 1879, and probably landed at Boston Harbor, since she settled ultimately in Worcester, Massachusetts. She met and married (1881) Thomas Francis Barry in Worcester and they produced at least  12 children although only eight lived past infancy. Their names, given the penchant for naming children after relatives might help pinpoint the family: Marion, Ella, Evelyn, Francis, Rita (possibly Margareta), Arthur, Lucy, and William. I realize her name is extremely common, but any clue would help. Thanks

Waterford / Re: Manning & Welch from Waterford

James and Margaret Welch Manning are my great grandparents. They settled in Worcester, Massachusetts, where the census of 1900 has them living at 453 Milton Street. Margaret (b 1860) died in 1901 from an illness, I believe, and James (b 1858) died in 1904 by drowning which was presumed to be suicide. He was a laborer at one of the wire mills in Worcester. Their youngest son, my grandfather was Thomas Francis Manning, born in 1896, died 1955, in Worcester. Their other sons were John b 1885, Edmund, b 1888, and James, b 1890. The girls did their best to keep things together, so the story goes, but my grandfather spent some time in the Worcester County Boys Reformatory, then ran away to join the 14th US Cavalry, L Troop at 15. He  served during the border skirmishes with Mexico and all through WW1. I'm dying to know whatever else you have about them as it has been devilishly hard for me to find information about the family before they arrived in the states. Thanks. Feel free to check out my public member tree. Thanks
