Family History Beginners Board / Probate after 1966
« on: Sunday 26 January 14 18:52 GMT (UK)  »
Does anyone know how I can find out about a will for someone who died in 1978. The person is Ralph Richards who died in the Bristol area.  His parents Henry John Richards who died in 1942 and mother Francis Louise who died in 1947 both left their money to him although there were other siblings and as I understand some problem over a property. Regards Jayne

Family History Beginners Board / Martha Howes

I am hoping for some help.  My great grandmother - Martha Howes - was born c1852 in Gloucestershire, she married Joseph Eyles and had 2 children, after he died she lived with George Baskerville and had 3 children, Frederick was my grandfather.  I do not know whether her parents were Joseph and Elizabeth Howes or Thomas and Martha Howes.  Ancestry shows conflicting information.  She had a sister - Emily c1856 - who was on the 1881 census (surname down as Hawes). Thanks in advance for any information.  Jayne. ???

Family History Beginners Board / Bowerman ancesters

I am really hoping someone may be able to help me with my research.  My great grandfather - Edward Bowerman, was born c1848 Devon, maybe Tiverton.  I have a copy of his marriage certificate dated 1884 in Exeter which says he was 36.  In the 1851 census it shows Edward with parents Richard and Eliza in Tiverton and states he is 2 which would make his birth 1849c.  I cannot find him in any other census records.  I know him and his wife Emma Tratt went to Australia and 3 children were born there but one died.  Edward did not return to England he was killed in a train accident when working on the railway.  I would really like to know where he was in the census records for 1861/1871/1881.  I think his parents may have had died by 1861.  Any help would be really appreciated and I know the above is complicated to take in. Thanks in advance.  Jayne   :)

Family History Beginners Board / Missing birth/death records

Does anyone have any tips to help me look for a relation of mine.  While growing up in the 50's I had lots of cousins/2nd/once removed.  My grans sister had 2 children, she married later in life at about 34 in 1939, her name was Agnes Maggs and she married Leslie Palmer and they had 2 children Christopher and Jenny (born 1944), Chris was older but I can find no birth, he died after 1970 (he was at my wedding) but I can find no death, I don't know where to look - I have been on Free BMD and Genes Reunited. Any help would be grateful.  Thanks Jay

I am looking for information regarding Edward Bowerman in connection with a court case in Wellington in March 1897.  The Bristol Times and Mirror ran the piece on 4th March 1897, I do not subscribe to Ancestry so cannot read the item.  I hope someone can help me.  Thanks in advance. Jay (Edward was born in Devon in 1866)

Family History Beginners Board / Divorce records

I would be very grateful for some help with regard to my maternal family 'Bowerman'.  Edward and Emma (nee Tratt) married in Exeter in 1884.  Went to Australia where 2 children were born and returned to Tiverton where my gran was born in 1889.  By 1897 he had re-married, on the 1891 census Emma appears working at the rectory in Uffculme where it shows Emma as a widow.  Edward was alive and well in 1891 in Devon.  I don't know where to look for divorce records and would appreciate any help.  Thank you in advance.  Jay ???
