Cornwall Lookup Requests / Re: Marriage of Peter CRAGOE and Elizabeth BURT

Peter Cragoe and Elizabeth births found in Cornwall Family History Center records did not have a surname for Elizabeth, so I wrote ULN of Unknown Last Name.  I think that you have the correct full name for Elizabeth.

Regarding Bust and Bunt surnames, I did a quick search for John Crago and Constance Tamblyn, who were married 3 March 1829 in St. Pinnock Parish.  Her parents were Francis Tamblyn and Elizabeth Bunt, who were married in Braddock Parish, 22 January 1761, according to distant cousin, who sent me the information.  Bunt appears to be a popular Cornwall surname.

I have found Tamblyn spelled Tomblyn in the Society's records; likely this is a typo or a varient spelling.

Crago is a challenge to research with the many variant spellings through the centuries.

Steade

PS:   I have come across a marriage between the Oliver and Crago families.   Also, could Bust be mis-transcribed as Bunt or visa versa?   Bunt is a not uncommon surname in Cornwall.

Regarding John Cragoe with parents Peter Cragoe and Elizabeth ULN, there are two John Cragoes listed in the CFHS's records: first baptized 13
April 1768 and the second baptised 20 September 1772, both in Liskeard Parish.  Parents with the same names also have  daughters Margaret, baptised 15 August 1766, and Anne, baptized 26 July 1776, both in Liskeard Parish.  There is also a son, Peter, baptized 19 July 1769, Liskeard Parish.

(There is also a Peter Crago, son of Peter Crago and Margaret ULN, baptized 26 July 1724, Braddock Parish. They had another son, Francis, baptized 15 December 1719 in same parish.)

Steade

Hello Cousin,

Thank you for your response and the additional information.  Is my estimated 1755 year of birth for Francis Crago correct?

On the Cornwall Family History Society's records website, I found a Francis Cragoe, (incorrectly noted as "Dau" given forename spelling) baptized 17 September 1740, St. Clement Parish, the son (or daughter) of John Cragoe and Frances ULN.

I also found a Francis Crago, baptized 15 December 1719, Braddock Parish, son of Peter Crago and Margaret ULN.

I have not found a Francis Crago born or baptized near 1755.

Cornwall / Francis CRAGO, born around 1755, Cornwall
« on: Saturday 20 November 10 22:03 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,

I am searching for the parents of Francis Crago, born about 1755, died 3
February 1831, Liskeard Parish. He married Sarah Russell 28 June 1784, St Germans Parish. Sarah Russell was baptized 20 January 1760, St. Germans Parish. Her parents were George and Dor[i}thy Russel.

Francis and Sarah's children were John Crago, baptized 7 November 1784; (Frank) Richard Crago, baptized 7 November 1790; Dorothy Crago, baptized 5 August 1792; William Crago, baptized 15 November 1795; and George Crago, baptized 25 December 1803.  All baptized in St. Keyne Parish.

Frank Richard Crago's son, Francis Crago, and his family migrated to Pennsylvania, USA before 1899.

George Crago's son, John Henry, also migrated to South Dakota, USA about 1872 with his family.

Recent DNA test results have indicated that my family is related to this Cornish Crago family, with a common ancestor in very early 1700s or last half of 17th century.  My family was in the English American colonies, at least, during the first half of 18th century based upon primary documentation.
