Hi Dazza71

I sent a reply the other day, not sure if you got to read it, this was my first attempt and tried to do it quickly without reading all the processes and believe I had the subject line incorrect.

Anyhow I'm another cousin of your father Kevin and if you require any further details of your grandfather Fred and his brothers & sister I may be able to assist. My father is the last remaining of Fred's siblings.

I did get a PM from lizanne77 so may be you were able to see my response, which by the way lizanne77 indicated needed a few corrections but overall should help you build up a picture.

It was great to receive your response and I agree with your sentiments. From your comments you know who I am and yes I did live in the eastern suburbs but moved further east a couple years ago. Unfortunately I'm not as intuitive and cannot work out which cousin you are or who are your parents. I'm guessing Ken & Eileen due the weight of numbers. The last time I met with any cousins was at Catherine's funeral in 1984 I believe.

I'm keen to send you a PM with contact details and currently working through this process (I believe you must submit 3 posts before you can send a PM so I've got one more to go. I'll be good to access to your family knowledge which by your posts is extensive.

Regards

Hi Dazza71

I chanced upon the inquiry regarding your grandfather's family when doing a google search and hopefully I can provide a little more background regarding his brothers & sisters.

Reading through the chats I see that you one of Kevin's sons, he is my cousin although we did not really see alot of each other even though we lived in St Albans for a period during the 70's. I believe that your father was the eldest of all the cousins and I'm about the same age as your uncle Des.

Anyhow I'll run through the information I have which should help you expand the information you have already acquired.

Great grand parents Fred & Catherine Barnard in the time I visited them lived in Wangaratta - Maxwell st then moved to Glenrowan in the early 1960's and remained there until they passed away. You've got Freds death details correct and Catherine died in late September1984. Piece of trivia Catherine was the first shop assistant employed by Myer when Sidney Myer established his first shop in Bendigo. Myeer would recognise this with a card and gift on each anniversary.

Fred and Catherine had 8 children, you've got most of the detail, I'll fill in what I know, and put them the order of birth - this will be a little bit of guess work.

1 Fredrick  - Married Doris (both deceased)  Lived in St Albans was a bulider I think had seven children I can only remember Kevin, Jan and Des.

2 Robert - Married Anne  (Robert deceased) I believe Anne may still live in Abbotsford. They had 4 children 3 girls and and Robert the only boy was killed in trucking accident in the mid 1960's Cannot remenber the girls names

3 Alan - Married Win (both deceased) Lived in Wangaratta  I believe they had 3 children  2 boys and a girl. The 2 boys Robin and keith are both deceased.

4 Doreen - Married William McLean (both deceased)  Live in Wangaratta and the Glenrowan Had 2 boys John and Gary

5. Francis - Married Ursula (my parents) Live in North Essendon 7 children Jeffery, Faye, Peter Philip, Vicki David Kerri

6. Vincent - Married Irene divorced early 1950's then Married May - 6 children I think 2 from the first marriage and with from the second. Vin died about 2 years ago. They lived just outside Werribee.

7. Gorden - Married ??? - (both deceased) Lived in Wangaratta 3 children 2 boys (Noel and Greg) and Karen the girl.

8 Ken - Married Eileen - (both deceased) Lived in Wangaratta then Glenrowan. 11 children can't remember all the names only know the youngest was Fred as he was named after your great grandfather who had died just before he was born. I know that two of the boys still live in the old house at Glenrowan.

PS The youngest Gorden and Ken were twins.

Hope this assist your quest
