Mary...oh u wonderful lady...right now I feel I could throw my arms around you and give u a big bear hug...this is all to coincidental not to be the family, 1 mary in census to fit her age, one bridget age 28 to be the mother...WOW...and learning that snippet of history about if a mother is deceased the father puts children into orphanage well that all makes senseIt certainly gives us something to move on with. Thankyou so much for your help it is so much appreciated.

From what I have been able to find out...and follow up research...Mary was an orpan and came on the boat with 5 nuns, from research into that time etc, these nuns were coming over and bringing young orphaned girls over but NOT the boys, haven't found what happened to them yet.
But from the little other snippets of family "stories"and what the research came up with...1911 census 1 of the girls fits in with all info so far...but the spooky bit is...Mary had a TWIN brother brother (yes 1 set of twins have arisen in family but NO ONE else in family has ever known of twins, so where did that come from?)
But on the cencus this one that is right for marys age a twin boy is there, and go one census back, the young family is not at the address but the Older lady is still there...NOW what I have to do, is prove within the next 4 years, those two adults, mother and father of childern were deceased if so, that is the family we are chasing, then question is, what happened to Richard?? And that has been as far as I got with that as the flu hit and then things after that took a busy turn, but I can now look into this more again with a bit of a reduced hectic lifestyle for a while
And YES I would LOVE to know if they have the names of the nuns who came over with the children were as then I could find out which ship and which port she left from and arrived into but I have not heard anything else from Orphange/school, but learning about those sisters back then...brave ladies

well the only way to totally DISPROVE that theory Cando about changing his name to Metters in SA is to try and find a Michael Metters BIRTH somewhere of the same year...as we have seen it does fit year of birth for My Michael Metz
lol...now it just turns into a bigger puzzle then before...oh u gotta love my family. I am finding this very typical of everything/everyone I search

Nat Certs...I have another family members alien/nat cert and his nat cert and on both it states his origin of birth, how long he was in the country for (listing all locations of living since arrival) it states his age upon arrival and which ship he arrived on.
Re Daughter yes that is the same Robert Metz...1st marriage young wife died age 24, childbirth. 2nd wife died age 24 childbirth and 3rd marriage lasted longer thankfully...in my DIRECT line same both parents there was only the 3 boys, but Robert himself fathered quite a number of children in his time.
But yes will be very interesting to try and find if this Metters is in deed my missing Metz...kind of is similar, and again now to find out IF he changed it legally...hmmmmm. a single question turns once again into a thousand with no solution...heehee

would a coopy of Robert's naturalization cert help any...re age when came to australia, seeing their is 2 stories about age when arrived. And YES I have every person i come up against for research there is always moree questions and howcomes lol. AND MEGA YES I am now totally infected with this disease...lol

Hi Lin Up a Tree...no I had not seen either....where/which sites did u find those one...as I said I am still newish to this and so been using the offical wa bdm, qld bdm etc sites...the australian index site, never heard of it...
I do know his father was a stonemason and that he (robert) won the tender and built the Saint Patricks sutton forest church which was opened in 1879. I do not know when Robert came to australia (1 story he came with a paternal aunt and was only 9 known in germany as Karl Robert Metz, no other reference to a brother etc)(another source said he was on a ship and listed as stonemason...so trying to work that issue out too.
I do know from newspaper clippings that charles would come to melbourne etc for board meetings about the various mines he was with...so maybe Michael went down there and worked for Charles
