Census Lookup and Resource Requests / Re: 1891 census lookup- Fraser

Hi Ele,
Wow .... I've only spent 2 hours in the Archive center and approx another two online and already we have this ...impressive stuff!!
As i mentioned there was another Family of Frasers living in Englishton Muir until recently Thomas and Vi Fraser, they lived on a different "croft" but it has long been said there could be some connection, this could quite possibly be it. Thomas died a number of years back and Vi just recently moved out of the area to Beauly. It might be worth me having a chat with Vi to see if she knows anything further on your line.

The lady in the Archive center mentioned the dates on the census sheets can be a number of years out either way and the names may possibly change slightly but we can usually work it out through children etc.

My parents are still living in the original croft house (though slightly different from back then ..!!) and i have a house not far from theirs on the same croft
At Englishton Muir.
If all this is correct ...what does this make us ....some far far distant Cousins ?? Lordy i'll need some time to sit and work it out.

I am going to pay another visit to the Archive center soon so hopefully what info you have given me will be useful and fill in a few more boxes.

Is it possible to get in touch out with this site and yes i would welcome any other info you may have found or about to find .... its quite exciting stuff really.

Take care for now
D

Hi Ele,
Brilliant ...you are still here and even better being sane (you already sound like one of us haha) ... you are right about there being a few Frasers, in my time there were two families who can claim a history to Englishton Muir although the further back you go the more you find.
As i say i have just started looking and already its proving to be "interesting" to say the least!!!

My line (so far) is as follows
My Father (Alexander) born 1937 Inverness
Grandfather (John) Born 1901 died 1943 married Agnes Robbie 1934 Born 1903.

Great grandfather (Alexander) born 1862 died 1906 Married Annie Fraser 1891 born in Blackfold 1867 and had 6 children Hannah, Elizabeth, Alice, Catherine, John and i think Alexander.

His father (also Alexander) Born approx 1821 in Kirkhill and died 1901-1906 was married to Mary Fraser born 1831 in Kirkhill and died approx same year 1906.... and it gets a little vague here.... also possibly had 6 children Christina, Hannah, Alexander, Ann, William and Mary.

And i'm afraid this is as far as i have got His father (William) born Kirkhill about 1795 married to Christina born about 1798 and shows in the 1851 Census to have had 4 children Alexander, Margaret, Helen and Christina ....

I havent managed to branch out on any of the children as yet and just purely wanted to search my fathers line .....but given time and a lot of luck i am hoping to complete this .... ONE day...??

Thanks for replying ... hope to speak more.
