Kildare / Re: Kilcullen

Hi - I used to live in Kilcullen.  There is an area called Halverstown - its outside kilcullen on the Carlow road. Halverstown and Calverstown are not far from each other.

Kilcullen is only a few miles from the curragh of kildare which is home to an army barracks The Curragh Camp - not sure when it was established but could have been there at the time.

I know the library in Newbridge, Co Kildare (about 6 miles from Kilcullen) does a lot of work in this area  - I think they have some association with the Irish Family History web site.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Shane

I've checked the parish register in Castledermot and his birth is not mentioned.  The only other lead I have is the Sundays Wels - another relative has checked this out in Cork, again with no results.

I was hoping someone would know of a townsland of 'Sundays Wels' in another part of the country.  An elderly relative of mine is pretty sure he was from Armagh / Antrim.

Any clue as to where I could go from here?

All ideas appreciated.
Kim

Kildare / John Morrisy d1905 Castledermot

Hi

I'm looking for information on John Morrisy, he m Anne Walsh in the parish church Castledermot in 1868, died in Castledermot in 1905;  On the 1901 Census he is aged 58, (born abt 1843) and born in County Kildare;  From his marriage cert his residence at time of marriage was noted as Sundays Wels, his fathers name was Patrick Morrisy.

I cannot find any information on his birth / parents; I've checked in Castledermot and his birth is not registered there and I cannot seem to find any reference to Sundays Wels except in Cork.  Can anybody out there help ???

Any assistance would be appreciated.
Thanks :)

Hi

I heard that the parish records from the church in Kilcullen have been transcribed and are now held in the County Library in Newbridge, Co Kildare.  I'm not sure how far back the records go but you could give them a call their number is +353 45 448353 or their e mail address is Newbridgelib[at]kildarecoco.ie.  I know they have a genealogy department.
Good Luck with your search.
