Hi Tim  Yes, apparently the story is that Anthony & mary ran away, he was from Gentry in Ireland & she was a servant, the family tried to stop them being together so thats why they came to Leeds, he was disowned by his family because of their love affair.  I know it sounds like something in a romantic film, but I am told this is genuine, so , as you can see that's why I'm trying to find out everything I possibly can about them, but I am not getting anywhere  ??? . So its back to the drawing board for me.

Hi Tim, Yes you may be right, my GGGrandad was b.1844 & His father was b.1824, so they wouldn't have come over here until after that, although Anthony, b.1824 got married in 1868 to Mary Barlow (also born in Ireland) at St Peters Church, Leeds when Anthony, b.1844 was 4yrs old.

Hi Kate

My GGrandfather  Anthony Swift was born in Leeds 1875, he married Mary Ann Preston in Leeds 1899.  His father my GGGrandfather was born in Dublin 1844, he married Teresa Carroll in Leeds 1867,  he came over to England with his father (also Anthony) my GGGGgandfather, and this is where I hit problems as I don't seem to be getting anywhere.  I would dearly love to find out about my ancestors in Dublin.
If it is it at all possible, that you could help me out I would be very grateful.

Thanks  Julied
