Is anybody able to look up details of my Great Grandfather, John McDonald, please?
He was a Corporal in the Medical Staff Corps and was born in Liverpool 1850/51.
He was discharged in 1890 and his number was 2796. Any information would be much appreciated.
Thank you!

Thank you. Yes, the birth dates are calculated from census and death records. The marriage would have been in Ireland and all those births too. The earliest record of them in London is another birth in 1853.

I am trying to find some more information on my family but don't know exactly where in Cork they came from. John McAuliffe was born in 1812 and his wife, Margaret Singleton in 1817, children Mary 1842, Patrick 1844, Honora 1846 all born in Cork. They were in London by 1853. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, Stiobhán

Did members of this Corps belong to particular regiments or did they move around? I'm searching for any information on my Great Grandfather, John Christopher McDonald born c.1851 (in Liverpool, Lancashire according to 1891/1901/1911 censuses). He was a corporal (so must have been in for a few years) in the Medical Staff Corps and based in Fort Pitt, Chatham in July 1886 (when he married), the Longford Barracks in May 1888 (when a child was baptised) and the Arbour Hill Barracks, Dublin in October 1890 (another baptism). He had left the service by the 1891 census and is listed as a Commissionaire. I want to find out who he was stationed with in these places and why there. Any help, ideas or information would be much appreciated. Thank you

I do JJ. It lists him as Christopher McDonald, shoemaker and doesn't say deceased but I can find nothing on him either! Best wishes
