Roscommon / Re: JUDGE family in Longford, Roscommon

 Hi Mike:

I actually thought some of your Judges might have come to Saratoga from Canada.

By any chance do you still have access to the census material in
 Hulme, Manchester, England?

There is a gap in the presence of my James Kelly of Roscommon.  If he turned up near Manchester, it could be telling for you as well as me.

Thanks for your consideration.

Yours truly,
Roger

Hello Mike Morris:

My ancestor, James Kelly (ca.1825-1889), is from Roscommon, Ire.  In the writing desk of his granddaughter, my grandmother, was photo marked "Aileen [hard to read?] Fitzgerald, 1861" Dublin. For 30 years, I have been unable to connect this with anyone.  However, I recently found an Alicia Judge, born in Roscommon, who died in Sarotoga Springs, NY (1866-1927).   Her father was Michale Judge, mother: Catherine Fitzgerald, both born in Roscommon.  Other death records from the Burke Funeral Home, indicated a Daniel Harrington, monument dealer, moved from East Dorset, VT to Saratoga Spring about 1870, where he married Margaret Fitzgerald.  My James Kelly came with many other form Roscommon to East Dorset, VT before 1860. He was a marble quarry worker.  There is some indication that a first wife may have died before he came to VT, and that he may have come through Canada. Recently, a family tree was found for Thompson/Scally of Roscommon and "County Longford."  It connects to my James Kelly, and I am thinking that it could have confused the county of  Longford with the town in Rosc. If you would like to compare notes, please write.
