it confirms he was married. I do believe I’ve seen that record before many moons ago but didn’t record it or realise how important it was, so the burial record was incorrect. Ive now seen quite a few workhouse records for Walter, Im now going to have a look through the Ireland, Poor Law and Board of Guardian Records, 1839-1920 record for any other Whelan’s at Luke st.

as i have always thought of her as Mary Ellen now looking back through her records its only on her death/burial records she’s Mary Ellen, her granddaughter my Nan was Mary Ellen & i’ve thought she was named after her, but now you’ve pointed that out i can only see after her death the name Ellen turns up!
