World War Two / Re: Help needed for WW2 RAF member

Through my contact at RAF Benson, I have information about the number of missions the crew of Halifax JD145 completed before their final mission, and which other crews they each flew with on their "practice" before the crew ventured out on their first mission together, but not sure if I should put this in the "public domain", unless there are other relatives of the crew members who would consent to this.  It may be more appropriate as information for a "personal message".  If there are any other relatives out there, what do you think?

Do other users see "logged", but I see a number?

Thanks, but why do I have that message after all my postings?

I am new to the forum, and have posted 2 replies.  Each reply has "Report to Moderator", but followed by a number instead of "Logged".  What am I doing wrong?

World War Two / Re: 76th Sqadron

My uncle served with 78 squadron while based at Linton on Ouse in 1943 at the same time as 76 squadron.  Both squadrons have had recent reunions for surviving veterans and relatives.    We visited the Yorkshire Air Museum as part of the weekend of events, and got to explore the inside of a reconstructed Halifax bomber.   The memorial room at Linton on Ouse has photos of all the squadrons that were based there.
In their down time the air crew of 76 and 78 squadrons were thought to have been billeted to Beningbrough Hall or Aldwark Manor while at Linton on Ouse, in case of airfield attacks by the Luftwaffe.

My uncle was the Mid Upper Gunner 78 Squadron RAFVR also on the Halifax JD145 shot down over Texel that crashed into the North Sea whilst returning from a bombing raid to Bochum.
Have been researching my uncles war history since last summer, when I was in Holland, and took a trip to Terschelling to find my Uncle's grave.
There was a 78 squadron reunion at the beginning of June in Yorkshire including a visit to the memorial room at Linton on Ouse.
Try contacting 78 squadron at RAF Benson.  The squadron historian has provided me with quite a lot of additional information.
