Issac was repeatedly in the bastardly bonds. Maybe look for Alexander baptised under a different surname?

Essex Lookup Requests / Kelvdon and Weal or Wheel or Wheal
« on: Saturday 18 August 18 09:35 BST (UK)  »
Eliza or Elizabeth  married in 1842 in Islington.  Father given as William a farmer. Census show that she was born in Kelvedon  but  ages for these and at death give a birth date from 1811 to  1826. Husband was bn 1819. Still haven't found a convincing candidate.  Does anyone have access to Kelvdon parish records? Could she have grown up there but been baptised elsewhere.? Also any record of farming William from 1820's? Have DNA  done test but not helpful for this line.

Suffolk Lookup Requests / marriage lookup 1757 please Trimley or Nacton
« on: Tuesday 18 October 16 01:28 BST (UK)  »
In October1757 Jonathon? Bruce was supposed to marry Elizabeth Wynnel. He was from Trimley but she was from Nacton where the marriage was to take place. I think Jon may be Jacob (Job)  mis-transcribed. But I can't get to see the original documents and I am not convinced that the marriage ever actually took place. If it did... were there any other names?
Jonathon was a widower but I can't find his earlier marriage.
Any help gratefully received.

Dublin / Re: Gunsmiths & Apprenticeship 1820-1835

Thanks for the information. I still haven't got any Gunsmith apprenticeship details but went up to London last week and found the Grandfather (John) was a originally a carpenter apprentice who transferred into silversmithing and that his father was a David Fray (St Giles Cripplegate). David isn't a common name in the family and so we now think we can go back a further generation. John's Silversmithing partner was Dennis Wise which may be why he called his own son Dennis.

Family History Beginners Board / Early Schoolmasters - Clerics?
« on: Monday 22 February 16 23:38 GMT (UK)  »
I have a couple of  'schoolmasters' from the late 1700's. Would they have any qualifications? Would they have taught in private houses? Both are from Home Counties -  what can I use to find out more as I believe they moved around.
