Galway / Re: LARNER/LARDNER in Annaghdown

Recently I have been researching my mother’s family name –Lardner.  We have records of the family having lived in Galway town from at least the 1750’s.  While trying to track the birth date of my great-grandfather Timothy Lardner, I came across the baptism record of another Timothy Lar(d)ner, baptised on 10th October 1839 in the parish of Annaghdown which is some miles north of the town of Galway on Lough Corrib.  His father was listed as Thomas Larner and his mother as Eleanor Monahan.  There were 2 sponsors, Andrew Quin and Mary Griffin.   I know that he is not my great-grandfather because his father’s name was listed on the civil record of his marriage in Galway in 1869 as Patrick Lardner.  Reading your account the Lardners  in Annaghdown it struck me that there might be some connection with your own and the information might prove useful.

With best wishes,

Anne-Marie
