My ancestor, Catherine Noon, came out on the same voyage and she was from Croghan too.  As she is listed as an orphan and these were the famine years, I have assumed that she was in the Boyle Workhouse.   She paid for her brother, martin, to come out in 1857.

If you are interested, I have set up a family history website where I have tried to piece things together:   http://www.thenoones.id.au/index.html

After the ship's arrival, the captain had a scandalous 'liaison' with one of the girls off the ship!   You can read about it on the website.

For anyone who had ancestors on the voyage of the Stebonheath which arrived in Sydney on 22/2/1858 I have done extensive research on this notorious voyage and am happy to share it through my website:    http://www.thenoones.id.au/

I have done extensive research on this particular (notorious) voyage of the Stebonheath.
If you like, visit my family history website:  http://www.thenoones.id.au/ and go to the chapter on Martin's voyage out.
