Hello Twink,

Thank you very much for your generous contribution in posting the Shalford Memorials..

My interest lies with Frances Annesley GREGORY's ancestors.

Her mother Frances ALLEN was a sister of Robert ALLEN (died 1752) of Greenwich and Jane ALLEN (died 1807) of Croom Hill Greenwich.

Jane Allen held 2/3 of the manor of Curles near Clavering Essex.

Her will :

Description    Will of Jane Allen, Spinster of Greenwich , Kent
Date    08 April 1807
Catalogue reference    PROB 11/1458
Dept    Records of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury
Series    Prerogative Court of Canterbury and related Probate Jurisdictions: Will Registers
Piece    Name of Register: Lushington Quire Numbers: 218 - 272

indicates thet she inherited from her brother Robert ALLEN who pre deceased her by many years.

My family history interests are centred on the East Herts, West Essex, S.W. Suffolk and South Cambridgeshire areas.

I am looking to find how and when the ALLENS came to hold the 2/3 manor.

An earlier holder was John Whitgift, Archbishop of Canterbury.

My BARLEE family had extensive interests in the Clavering area from the 13th. century.

I am looking for Robert, Jane and Frances' parents names.

Are you able to help me?
