WOW! Thanks so much for all your hard detective work Ian. Your hunch in locating the link through Inger Dorothea was correct. Now to find what happened to Inger... Can anyone provide a good translation of this document? If what I'm seeing is correct, I don't see the name of a father listed? All her life Chrestina had been celebrating her birthday just a few days off, and we never knew her to use the names of Frederikke or Elisabeth. I have found an old picture that says on the back, "Chrestina's stepfather," so if that is correct than Inger Dorothea married at some time. Also, we were always told she came to the United States in 1886 after the death of her parents. Will be interesting to know more of the story. Attached is a photograph of Chrestina, who lived to be 98 years old. She was a tiny little woman, but a very hard worker, and everyone loved her.
