London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / Charles Bird - possible lawsuit
« on: Saturday 14 August 10 18:01 BST (UK)  »
Hello again after a long absence!!

Charles Bird 1881 Census, Medical Assistant in Shoreditch, London - wonder if there is any info. on a lawsuit (medical presumably) for him or his father, Charles Edwin Bird.  Apparently he was quite wealthy and the money was lost; my very reliable source said years ago that this happened because of a lawsuit.  Am not able to consult my source any longer!

Thanks in advance.

Hysperella,

thank you and will try and do this soon.  I've had to lay aside parts of the tree and get on to other things but have details.

Jan,

thanks and I'm on to it.  Considering I've done Electoral work at home, I'm a bit slow off the mark!

Lard,

a few distractions and away last weekend so missed the Heritage Centre opening and don't know if I'll make the next one either.

Is it possible that you could put me in touch with Leon Dobson?  This would be great.

Hampshire & IOW Lookup Requests / Hindmarsh Family - Isle of Wight

Another cog in the wheel, so to speak.

My grandad's brother (Cyril Hindmarsh) moved to the Isle of Wight from Essex with his wife and young daughter in the early 30s.  I have found birth notices for three other siblings born on IOW between 1935-1943.
I would really like to make contact with these second cousins (once removed);
are they still alive, are they still there, have they married etc
or let me know if I should be able to find out these things myself?

Thanks and regards

Thanks to everyone who has contributed and given links.  I'll try the libraries and local papers as well.  Not being a "native", it is sometimes difficult to know where to start.

Hi

I'm trying to find out about this woman with a connection to my husband's family.  The only mention we have is by word of mouth that she was very wealthy and that she was possibly the founder of a London Girls' Shelter in Whitechapel (listed on the 1901 Census).

It is an unusual name so hopefully this is useful.

Thanks very much.

Elizabeth and Andrea

once again thanks for your help.  I've been working on other parts of the tree but will now return to the Hindmarsh section and, hopefully, in the not too distant future, I'll be able to visit Amble etc.

All the best

Findem and Flakdodger
thank you for links and suggestions.  Just a point of interest for family research.
